Pocket Accountant

Pocket Accountant Privacy Policy

This policy explains how information is handled across the website, web app, mobile apps, and related services.

1. Who we are

Pocket Accountant is operated by V Investment Capital LLC. In this policy, Pocket Accountant, we, us, and our refer to V Investment Capital LLC and the Pocket Accountant website, web app, mobile apps, and related services.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the service, we may collect account and profile information; business and accounting records; invoices, bills, expenses, income, transactions, customers, vendors, chart-of-accounts data, journal entries, budgets, reports, reconciliations, tax estimates, and mileage records; connected-bank information; uploaded receipts and documents; subscription and billing status; support messages; device, session, security, and diagnostic data; and AI Assistant inputs and outputs.

3. Information about other people or businesses

You may enter information about customers, vendors, employees, contractors, clients, or other third parties. You are responsible for having the authority, consent, or lawful basis needed to provide and use that information.

4. How we use information

  • Create, verify, secure, and manage accounts.
  • Provide bookkeeping, invoicing, bill tracking, reporting, receipt, mileage, budgeting, bank-feed, AI Assistant, and tax-estimate features.
  • Generate dashboards, reports, exports, PDFs, emails, and requested business records.
  • Process authentication, password resets, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and billing events.
  • Respond to support requests, detect abuse and fraud, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability.
  • Comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting, security, and regulatory obligations.

5. Bank connections and Plaid

When you connect a bank account, Pocket Accountant uses Plaid or another authorized provider to connect to the financial institution and display balances, transactions, matching, categorization, and reconciliation information. Disconnecting stops future syncing and clears the stored access token when available, but previously imported records may remain until deleted or handled through account deletion.

6. AI-powered features

Information submitted to AI-powered features may be processed by an AI service provider to generate a response. AI outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete and are not legal, tax, accounting, investment, or financial advice. Users should review outputs and consult a qualified professional when appropriate.

7. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared as needed with hosting, database, storage, email, payment, app-store billing, bank-connection, AI, analytics, diagnostic, audit-logging, and security providers; with authorities when required or permitted by law; with a successor in a business transaction; or with other parties at your direction or with your consent.

8. Cookies, device data, and similar technologies

Cookies, local storage, session storage, device identifiers, and logs may be used to keep users signed in, remember settings, secure accounts, measure performance, troubleshoot problems, and improve the app. Disabling these technologies may affect functionality.

9. Communications

We may send security notices, password-reset emails, billing notices, product or account updates, support responses, invoice or report emails, and other transactional communications. Marketing messages, if sent, will include applicable opt-out choices, but security and transactional notices may still be delivered.

10. Data retention and deletion

Information is retained for as long as needed to operate the service, maintain accounts, complete transactions, prevent fraud, maintain backups, comply with legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Account deletion can be requested inside the app or through support, subject to verification and legally permitted retention.

11. Privacy choices, security, and international processing

Users may request access, correction, export, disconnection, or deletion where available and applicable. Pocket Accountant uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in countries where service providers operate, subject to applicable protections.

12. Children, policy changes, and contact

Pocket Accountant is not intended for children under the age required to consent to online services in their jurisdiction. This policy may be updated as the app or legal requirements change. Questions or requests can be sent to hello@pocketaccountant.app.
